Glasses, 2 factor authorization and me

Is anyone suffering from the problem of trying to get 2 factor auth codes from the text messages on their smart phone? I have to take off my glasses to use my phone, the screen is so small, then I can't see to type in the numbers on my computer monitor! I usually memorize 3 digits of numbers at a time taking off my glasses and putting them back on. No way am I getting bi-focals just for my dumb phone. But it's really a pain and more web sites are going 2 factor authentication, my bank, GitHub, etc. Having my phone announce the numbers on speaker is probably not a good idea. I could get a tablet and setup a 2nd phone number on it just so I could read the numbers, expensive! I really can't think of cheap elegant way to solve this. I could install a 3rd party app that allows the smart phone to mirror it's screen to a tablet across wifi but that seems risky. I could allow Microsoft Windows to sync to my smart phone but that seems like the worst solution of all, if my PC is in a compromised state all my accounts could be wide open to hackers. The idea is to get the authentication out of the PC loop right? OK folks, I think I found a solution, for android at least. In the text messaging app, click on the menu icon, upper left, 3 horizontal lines, choose "customize", then "Font" and slide the font size all the way to the right, I can read the codes with my glasses on. Unfortunately it makes reading other messages in the app kind of crazy.
On my android devices, reading text messages I can simply pinch to change the font size. Pinch out, read the number, pinch back in ready for next time. Too easy.

Varifocals: I use them so I can see road signs and read the display on the dashboard. They can take a bit of getting used to, but you won't go back. I used to have three pairs of glasses: distance, computer, and reading - but I was always wearing the wrong ones ... :-D

Now I want the text message app to be changed so that I can set the font for specific incoming phone messages so only those numbers that send codes uses the larger font.

I tried to do it as described in a search and it didn't zoom in our out on my Motorola android phone. I can zoom in and out on pictures though.

I guess I'd need glasses that are neutral up close, I can see fine from 1 foot out or so.
Talk to your optician - they can do that! The bottom bit is "close up" and can be any level of zoom, including zero.

On my Moto G5s when I open the text history I can pinch to zoom the text in/out.

It sounds like you could use bifocals or progressives, even if you're a little "young" for them as I am. I have progressives because I work with electronics regularly, and I'd have to take my glasses off and on to see the silkscreens or solder. They are a lifesaver. Maybe consider it.

I started using glasses a few years ago. The optometrist suggested to try progressive lenses and it was love at first sight. I can read near and far, see the road and all the details on the dashboard, in short, my eyes do almost all the same things they used to do before. I know progressive lenses, or their poor cousin, the bifocals, don't fit with everyone, but if they suit you, they will be useful for a lot more things than reading auth codes.

That was exactly was I was going to write: It has not to be bifocals, I would go for a 3 zone progressive lense.

I got my eyes lasered 18 years ago to leave glasses for long dinstance behind me (miopy) I am now getting glasses back for near and PC distance. I need a "work place" glasses but I am taking a progressive"room" glasses with 3 zones. Bottom is for near, center from 50 cm to 2-3 meters and top is for up to 12 meters. (To avoid having to take them out when someone gets into the room, or looking to things in the other corner). Outdoors, driving and so on... I don't need them

That's definitely one thing the iPhone does well: it will offer to auto-fill the code when it receives the text message. No need to copy and paste, or try to remember the code. :)
