Serial downvoters still exist on CodeProject?

Some want you to cater to the lowest denominator. If they don't understand your article, they assume it's your problem.

To be fair, if people don't understand my articles, I do consider it my problem, but I'd prefer an explanation of the downvote.

I've just updated one of my new articles this morning and got a 1/5 without leaving any comment or interesting suggestion. The vote was not removed because the article is relatively new and has not got enough upvotes. I also got another 1/5 on another article but this one was removed because the article has enough upvotes. Do serial downvoters still exist on CodeProject?
Yep, they're out there. I just gave you a +5, purely for the effort you put into the project and the article, and to counter the +1.

It's a shame when you put so much time and effort on an article and someone who even didn't read it come and vote 1/5 without leaving any reason or any comment.
I just had the same thing happen too. 1/5 I get it quite often. Even think someone follows me that just votes mine 1/5. But I don't care about votes at all. I write most of my articles for myself and for the people who like the topics I cover, so I don't care.

Sorry to hear about that, I also experienced this with some of my articles and I think something should be done about this. Maybe its a small consolation to you that I upvoted your article with 5 points.

What you learned is not correct and has been discussed many times: No votes (at least dwon votes) without comments. On the other hand, speaking of a series after two downvotes is also quite questionable ;)

Hi! Just a quick note to let you know that when you report an article as spam (as you just did with two of them) you also need to report the user as well, both on their home page, and on the Spam and Abuse Watch Discussion Boards[^]. If you don't, then when the article closes we have no way to dispose of the spammer and that just makes his job easier next time. You also get a little extra rep as a "thank you" when you do that. When you report in S&A, please make sure the title of the article and the username appear in the subject line - that way we don't get multiple reports of the same spam!

Well, I can't speak for any of the others, but... Seriously, I see no reason to vote an article a 1 when I can report it as "Extremely poor quality" or something instead. Not meaning yours, of course. Not sure I saw it. In so many cases, I feel I'm not qualified to judge an article, so I don't.
Apparently there are plenty of peeps (not saying you) that feel qualified enough to argue on them though.

Yeah, I noticed a while back when an article of mine literally got attacked with downvotes that: CP LoopHole! It is far better to write an article and post it in the forum because no one can downvote in here without you knowing who it is. :laugh:

Downvote <=== (down arrow over on left) doesn't do anything, right? And if you do a thumbs down (the icon/emojis) then you can see who made that vote. Yea seriously. They exist all over. I posted a few answers on stackoverflow a while back -- one jamoke copied my answer and reformatted it, and then had the balls to downvote my answer. The jackweed had a gozzillian StackOverFlow points too. I had to argue with the site to get me back into the black, just so i could use the site.

Looking at one of my down voted messages. - Hovering over down vote button does nothing. - Clicking on it just returns a message that I cannot vote on my own thread. - Clicking on emoji button gives same/similar message. - Hovering over vote total at bottom does nothing - it is not clickable. Looking at your emoji - Hovering over it does give a name. Oddly enough I also see the following for myself. - In the Lounge down vote is disabled. - In Free Tools there is no down/up vote button at all. But it does have the 'Rate' (1 to 5) at bottom of screen.

Yes, that's why I'm suggesting everyone post all their articles to the Lounge. :rolleyes: No one can downvote in the lounge. No one will ever downvote you...and if they use the thumbsdown icon you can see who did it.
