I don't remember the comic, back in the 80s (George Carlin or Gallagher maybe?), telling of a visit to a diner with "soup du jour" on the menu. He asks the waitress, "what's the soup du jour?" She grumbles, goes back to the kitchen. Comes back a few minutes later. "It's the soup of the day."
