On a purely selfish note, I would have liked to have been around when automated boat loaders were commonplace in wafer fab facilities. They introduced them at my old workplace just as I was defecting to software development. Loading manually, and timing the load was a PIA. More than once I saw people taking a sneaky look around and whamming the boats in at a speed that was *not* recommended. Of course, I would never have done that. Debbie

i discovered a year ago the impact salespeople have on my livelihood. if they don't sell product, the company doesn't have revenue. if the company doesn't have revenue, i don't get paid. i am grateful for good salespeople, and i admit they are different than developers. they tend to be generalists and very competitive, willing to cheat to win. where developers are more specific and know cheating in code won't make the software work. Strange though how that very closedness and therefore exclusivity is a big reason for many Mac users sticking with Apple. They like that they are few and far between, an elite few that have supposedly seen the light that we have not. Also lets not forget that Apple and it's management are hardly threadbare street urchins struggling to survive. I have to admit if I had to pick between 1 trillion dollars and being touted as the devil (MS) or 100 billion dollars and being loved for my eccentricity (Apple) then I would pick the later for my company :)
