No, I drank alone and cried

:rose: That was rather presumptuous. The message you responded to, that is, not your response.

So my wife wanted to leave me 3 years ago. For over a year I drank about 20 standard drinks a night. Recently it's been 3-5, one cocktail while I cook, one with dinner and one in the evening. I went to the GP and he told me I have 70% kidney function and my liver is waving a white flag. So I just gave up, that day. I'll still have the odd cocktail when I take my wife to dinner, but that's it.

My post was an, admittedly silly, attempt at humour. Since it was a while ago and Christian has completely recovered, I supposed it was innocuous.

Fair enough. Tone never gets communicated very well over plain text. To me, it came across, probably way harsher than you ever intended.

not probably, entirely surely - Carlo is one of the kindest CPian around.

Wow, I'd never have imagined that. Congrats on the decision, keep it up - and come post something silly here if the temptation is too strong, we'll help waving it away with even more silly answers :-D

Good job, you're liver will appreciate it. About 10 years ago I saw the light and gave up smoking, drinking and chasing fat woman. So far so good!

Good on you if you have the ability to do just that. I wish I could convince a certain brother-in-law of mine to do the same.
I'm autistic, so those things are easy for me. But it can be tough

She didn't leave you then ?

Nope. We had a roller coaster year but we're still together.

Thanks. I'm not sure I could have just stopped when it was 20

I am glad you managed to find the resources to stop. You are one of my CP heroes - helped me a lot in the early CP times ( with other fellow CPians : Nish, JSOP, Pete, Mick, Michael, Dan, Luc, Ravi, elephanting Henry, Joergen, and so many more incredible people), very active in the Lounge, first with so many articles written, etc... the legend.

Answer directly to him and you will find it out :)
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

The problem nowadays isn't chasing them; it's catching them. :sigh: :)

*blush* I am 23 years in to a career that exists because people helped me on CP in 1999, but I don't remember names.

1999 ? So you even knew CP before the database disaster in the early 2000 ? Wow !
