Solar Eclipse on Monday the 8th

Not sure if this was posted already or not, if so oops, but for the US at least it's the last one until 2044 for us to be in the path totality... So, I'm risking a repost. NASA's Eclipse Explorer for the Deets

My local astronomy club is giving an event for the public in a national park near here. We set up our telescopes and let the public look through them. We also try to educate them a little on what they are seeing. A fun time will be had by all!
The difficult we do right away... ...the impossible takes slightly longer.

That's totally cool. I'll be in my backyard talking to myself, but glad to know peeps are digging it.

In Montréal, At work, I'll have 30 seconds of darkness. I might leave early and go to the old port to have a little bit more darkness.

Sadly I'm just that bit too far East to be able to see the remnants that will be visible in Western UK. Basically, Cornwall, Devon, Wales and the West coast up into Scotland will (possibly) see a partial just before sunset, everybody else, tough luck.

We'll have 94% coverage where I am, round lunchtime for me, I'll take a look. Most of my friends have travelled.
"the debugger doesn't tell me anything because this code compiles just fine" - random QA comment "Facebook is where you tell lies to your friends. Twitter is where you tell the truth to strangers." - chriselst "I don't drink any more... then again, I don't drink any less." - Mike Mullikins uncle

Noice, I'm in the path of totality but looks like there will be cloud cover. Hope it's an awesome view for you.

It was excellent! Especially since I didn't have to travel to see it. It's the third eclipse I've seen but the first totality. I just wish I had borrowed, bought or rented a better camera. My phone was able to record the event but the professional pictures are much better...except they do not have my family or my house in them. I set up a video camera pointing at the sky through some trees, keeping the sun close but out of view. I thought I would capture the whole 2 hour process then play it back speeded up. Unfortunately, the camera shut itself off when the totality occurred. That corrupted the file so I wound up with nothing. I'll be better equipped for the next one. Expect me in Calgary on August 22, 2044.
