I dislike these YouTube tutorial videos that try to teach content but there is no voiceover of someone talking or there is sound but it is just a music track playing the whole time. Why do they do that? Doesn't seem very personable to me. It seems lazy instead.

And because speaking and communicating an idea clearly is much harder to do than writing + music.

Possible reasons: 1. They may be not comfortable with English as a spoken language. 2. They want to be language agnostic. Meaning language independent, implying a higher reach across all continents. Often, language itself becomes a communication barrier. Against this, instead of a silent video, they use music as a filler.

Yeah, I don't even watch them. YouTube ads have gotten so bad I don't watch many videos now.

Firefox with a blocker helps considerably. But yeah, it is now crap in a manifest V3 browser...

I switched to Chrome a while back and don't like it much. Used FF for years and really liked it but it turned to crap so I switched.

I am also in the 'it is crap' camp, as it sucks up so 'effin much memory. But it eliminates YouTube ads when done that way, since it is still Manifest V2. I pretty much only use it for YouTube and FaceBook, since it has anti-FB tracking in it when you enable the 'container'.

Would almost be worth it. With Chrome the video comes up shows a brief warning about ad block then flickers, does this a random number of times then either goes to the ad or the video. If they put the ads off to the side, like everybody else does I could ignore them, like I do every other site. But they have to shove it down your throat, cause we ain't made our gazillion dollars yet.

Yeah, I use Vivaldi as my main browser. YouTube in it is unbearable now, since it also relies on the chromium engine. Have fun playing - hope if you go the FF route for vids, it is helpful.

They are not limited to tutorials but there are some news channels that do the same. The worst part about such videos, is that you have to watch them. FFS I just want to get the major headlines while doing something else. Please talk so I can listen to it instead!!!

YouTube tutorial videos without voiceovers or with only music tracks may prioritize visual demonstration over verbal explanation. Some creators opt for this approach to cater to viewers who prefer concise, visually-focused content or those who watch videos in environments where listening to narration may not be practical. However, it's essential for creators to consider audience preferences and balance visual and auditory elements to enhance engagement and comprehension.

Laziness. Not speaking the language. Being shy to a fault. But then, having a script read by a bot is hardly a better option.
