What was your previous browser, and what led you to the conversion?

Chrome, then they wouldn't allow AdBlock so I went back to FF, which I had used for years. Then I start having problems getting links to work, I was getting a lot of "That site can't be reached" errors so I went to Edge to see if it was a browser issue. I was still getting errors! Turned out to be with the Server 2019 I have as a file server here at the house. For some reason it started having DNS issues and when I set my Windows 11 machine back to using Auto DHCP it cleared every up and it is now working for FF.

My gripe is with YouTube, they've gotten very aggressive with AdBlockers.

I'm still using uBlock with Chrome too without any problems.

They have, and more people are installing them as a result ... :laugh: If they didn't throw so many at each page they would probably get whitelisted more - but I've just opened a page (on the latest GTA V weekly update) and uBlock shows it blocked 77 ads on that single page ...

From what I've read, that means the ad-blocking extension needs to declare all domains it plans to block in advance; it can't use user-specified rules or dynamically-updated lists to decide which domains should be blocked. It seems like only AdBlock Plus are in favour of the change, and they have a financial relationship with Google. Firefox and Chrome are squaring off over ad blocker extensions - The Verge[^]

That's ridiculous - like having to specify which viruses a scanner is allowed to detect at installation.

I don't use an ad blocker, other than what the browser might block by default, and I use Pi-Hole separately--which can't do anything about the YT video ad(s) they play before each video. Those are getting increasingly annoying, to the point where I've given up on multiple instances and just closed the browser window because I figured I don't really need to watch a particular video after all, given I'm first presented with a 30s ad I can't skip...

and am now using uSoft Edge as my browser and I have to admit it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

It's really not that bad. I've always refused to commit to Chrome, so I was forced to pick something else when IE was officially declared dead (and more and more pages were now getting broken). I used the original "non-Chromium" version of Edge for maybe a grand total of 45 seconds when it was first introduced years ago. I'm liking Edge. I can't say which features I use are unique to it since I don't have Chrome installed anywhere so I can't compare, but perhaps first and foremost, I find it does a good job bringing back whatever was opened when you reboot the computer or accidentally close the entire browser instead of just the current tab.

I can't say I've tried to save a URL as a favorite by dragging. I always use the Add to Favorites button, then pick the correct folder in the resulting popup. *Re-organizing* existing URLs by drag and drop--that, however, I do all the time and I find it works well enough.
