This morning I turn on my computer and notice two changes to Outlook. 1) it always opens on my main screen rather than the left hand one where I left it. It's bad enough that it never comes up the place and size I left it, but at leave keep on the same monitor like it did yesterday! 2) The view has changed to Grouped, with a multiline summary and the preview pane is back. The Groups I can fix, the preview pane I can get rid of. But the waste of space that is a multiple line summary per email is just buried. Deep. And really obvious.* Microsoft? Just stop assuming that what you like will be what everyone has to have. We set options so we can get at what we want, not what you want - so don't f**k with our settings! * If you need it, it's under "View"..."Arrange By"..."View Settings"..."Other Settings"...Uncheck "Use compact layout in widths smaller than"...Check "Always use single-line Layout" What the heck that has to do with sorting things, I have no idea ...

Old or new Outlook? My current gripe with "new" Outlook: it's started opening TWO copies of every link I click on. The only workaround is to right-click and choose "open link", which opens just one copy as expected. I suspect if they ever acknowledge the problem, their "solution" will be to change the link handling to always use Edge instead of the system-default browser. X|

I haven't seen that problem, but then I never open links from emails just to be on the safe side!

When they replaced Windows Mail with Outlook, I quickly ditched Outlook for Thunderbird.

I clung on to Windows Mail for a very long time, but eventually had to succumb. :sigh: Mail was a far superior product!

I still use Thunderbird - I have to say Outlook Express was ok

I had this "use edge" issue. Along with whoever made the decision to force re-boots, the person who decided to add a registry entry for outlook to override the system default browser... burn in OS hell. If my kid did something this stupid, they would get the "dad look." Or mom look, but you know what I mean. Meanwhile, let's talk about desktop backgrounds..... (new topic).

I feel as though your post completely validates the way I feel when it comes to the dumpster fire that is infamously known as "Outlook". My Post About Microsoft Outlook[^] I now now use the term "Outlook" as a four-letter word. Hey, Microsoft, go outlook yourself with a spoon.
