I think that a long term solution to the problem of terrorism, after the military action of the near future, is to use hackers to break into the bank accounts and other finanicial holdings of terrorists, dictators, and drug lords, and take the money out. Without money their operations would be crippled. I do not see this as stealing; rather it is the seizure of contraband. Is this technologically feasible? I suppose it would have to involve some kind of identity theft. It would also require some cooperation from the financial institutions, which could happen if the governments of their countries lean on them enough. In theory this may work but what about ethics and legalities? Also what would happen if the terrorists had the ability to do this to Bill Gates, George W Bush etc.? One major problem with this: The supporters of terrorism tend to be an entire country, an entire government. Wipping out a countries "credit" (as if any 3rd world countries actually have that, which I seriously doubt) will result in mass starvation, disease and a lot more enraged people who are then more likely to become terrorists because they have no other option but die fighting. If this act was done the country in question would appeal to the world bank and other 1st world countries to help them out. A country of 40 million starving, begging, dying citizens cannot be denied no matter how much one hates them or feels thay have wronged others. It simply won't happen. Sorry but this is a really bad idea. Rather get the terrorist nations to give over the terrorists. If that does not work then occupy the nation, remove the heads of power and find a balance between satisfying the people of that nation and avoiding another terrorist government to be put in place. regards, Paul Watson Cape Town, South Africa e: paulmwatson@email.com w: vergen.org

This was actually done to Milosovic (not sure on the spelling). That increased the pressure on him a great bit. Jason Gerard, Master of Kung Foo
