I have a situation where I need to use a couple of Microsoft apps., but it will take several days to get them through our purchasing system and I have serial numbres available from an Action Pack. If I install my copies is it possible to deactivate my copies then install the others afterwards or are my copies useless elsewhere after activation ? Does Microsoft offer deactivation and does it work ? Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

Not that i'm aware - but if you forgo the automatic activation & call in, they'll generally let you activate on new hardware.

Isn't there a grace period (probably 30 days) for Microsoft products' activation? Back when I installed XP for the first time, I chose not to activate it upon installation because I hadn't setup my network, and I had better things to do than call MS and type in a 20 digit number over the phone. You should be able to install these things and defer the activation for a number of days... -- Russell Morris "So, broccoli, mother says you're good for me... but I'm afraid I'm no good for you!" - Stewy

I've transferred copies of XP to different computers before. You just have to manually call in and give them an excuse like I fried the motherboard and had to get a new computer. Although just saying I got a new computer and am transfering them etc etc has worked for me too. Matt Newman

I did exactly that on a laptop i was taking away with me to Nepal to run a sports event scoring system. I meant to activate it once i had everything set up and working properly but somehow forgot! I was there trekking and kayaking for a month and when i turned up for the event the activation period had expired! You want to try calling MS support in london on the one phone for miles that can make international calls by the side of a dusty road with buses flying past honking their horns all the time!
