I am really frustrated because it seems to be that my biggest dream died yesterday. I applied for immigration to Canada on Aug 5, 2002 and last Friday I got a letter from the Visa Office in Berlin that I have to send in the results of a Language Test (IELTS) within the next 60 days otherwise my application will be refused. So I took the test yesterday (that was the only test I could take in this time) and I am sure that I failed the Listening and Speaking task, because I was so nervous. The last year was the hell. My whole life was in a waiting-line and maybe it wasn't worth to wait. Now I need a miracle, but this usually doesn't happen to me :(( It's really good to tell this somebody! So long... Stephan

Canada really puts on two faces when it comes to immigration. On one side they make it seem like you have to be Albert Einstein to come here. On the other side they whine about the high tech brain drain they are suffering with so many Canadians going to the U.S. for high tech jobs. Having a immigration lawyer helps. Here is hoping for the best. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

I must have missed something... you emigrated to Canada? Here I thought you were just visited frequently. I find the idea of moving to another country very alluring. But the idea of doing it alone is really scary.

I started getting hard questions at immigration so I made the move last September. Moving from Oz to Canada was pretty easy: they like their beer and appreciate needlessly violent sports. I feel at home ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

I have been to Canada quite a few times and have come across people who can barely speak any English. Judging by your writing, I think your test may have gone better than you think. :-)

You could ask them for an extension. The Visa Officers has proper instructions to don't give more time then the 60 days. Do you got the results? I think they need min 7.0 I am going to get the results in 2 weeks and yes I need at least 7.0 points for each task (reading, writing, listening and speaking) The point system in Canada Immigration changed a lot since last year and it's tougher now to immigrate to Canada. (especially since 9/11 the US pressured Canada to change some laws) At the moment it is nearly impossible to immigrate to Canada. A job offer or relatives helps a lot because you get extra points for them.

Canada and australia are still part of the commonwealth, so immigration is easier.

Doh! As you can see, I am a bit tactless... so I would not be the best person to do it. Why don't you consider somewhere else? anywhere where the summer lasts more than 1 month and you do not have to live indoor for the other 11 monthes? OK a bit of a cliche about Canada - which I am actually dying to visit one day. Hey why not try Australia? And you do not need English there... :)

Well, you could take the other approach. Half of Canada's immagration quota is economic. Got half a million dollars in cash? Welcome to Canada. Wish the US would wise up.

All I can remember was players using other players as friggin off ramps. They literally ran up the back on some poor sod, jumped off the shoulders, just to leep into the air to catch a ball. Pretty far out! It made american football look like a sport for sissies.. :) -- Berlin rules.
