Have a look at Targus[^]. I have the Matrix backpack, which has a hell of a lot of pockets, to the point where I can't find stuff. I love it. Sean Winstead

I'll put in a third vote for Targus. I've been using this one since last semester and I love it. Has everything you need, even side pockets to hold the PDA. :)

Ok Gang, I'm getting a new notebook, hp5400 series, to replace my older (and dead screen) hp. I thought now would be a good time to replace my backpack at the same time. The current one is showing it's age. Here's what I'm looking for. 1) Big enough for the new notebook (15" screen, etc). 2) Pocket for all my cables. (1 Auto Power Supply, 1 Regular Power Supply) 3) Able to hold additional documents like magazines. 4) Pockets for pens, pencils. 5) I don't like those "Attach to the strap" holders, so I need some place to tuck my pda. 6) Professional enough to walk into a vice president's office without looking embarrased or as some sort of extreme programmer, etc. So, What do you think? I looked at the booq pack system. Pretty good contender. Nick

I still have my totally awesome VS.NET backpack, which I won on CP a year or so ago. It's the coolest thing EVER, I love it. It brands me as a geek. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Hi Sean, This is one of the backpacks I've been looking at. Best advantage is that I should be able to find one here in Akron Ohio before I buy it. Circuit City says they have them in stock, but as per usual, can't find them. Does the front flap of that thing kind of fold down like the pictures show? I mean, undo some of the bungee type strings and it flops down? Curious, Nick This are my own opinions. You know the rest.....

It opens up to about 45 degrees, enough to let you put some bulky items into the mesh pocket behind the flap. Sean Winstead

I like all the space but sometimes I have to search for a little bit to find what I need. If the zippers aren't on the same side I'll sometimes unzip the laptop section instead of the magazine section. Also, it lets me put in so much stuff that it can get darn heavy. And the hip belt is really a belly button belt for me. I have not yet taken the time to figure out if it is adjustable so that it does fit across my hips. Sean Winstead
