I managed to remove the virus without antivirus software. Sounds like you have the patch already. You need to turn off system restore, Kill msblast.exe in the task manager, Remove the virus from the registry (it runs when you startup your machine), do a search on your hard drive(s) for msblast.exe and delete them. And restart. I think that's the full procedure for removing it. Symantec's website has a procedure that includes updating your antivirus software and doing a full system scan, but you really don't need to do that. (But then, I'm not surprised that an antiviral software company would include a step which requires buying antiviral software.) Instead, as I mentioned, you can manually search for the virus and delete it. ------------------------------------------ The ousted but stubbornly non-dead leader reportedly released an audiotape this weekend, ending by calling on Iraqis to, quote, "resist the occupation in any way you can, from writing on walls, to boycotting, to demonstrating and taking up arms." adding, "you know, pretty much anything I used to kill you for."

Thanks Brit.. symantec has a tool which cleans up the system but it never seems to want to exit... thanks for the advice though! :):rose: Appreciate it Adam. My world tour What I do now.. Brit wrote: requires buying antiviral software Somewhere on their site is a free online scanner, or there was last week. It would be too much of a PITA for anyone to use it regularly, so they're losing no sales by posting it, but it can be handy if your machine is already infected and you need a quick emergency scan. People who learn from experience usually follow up by buying their software.:-D

dude, I spent like all day yesterday taking care of that crap on my work PC. (I decided to update windows while I was at it and I figured I'd throw in a chkdsk and a defrag and a video driver update... Kinda like a much needed spring cleaning. ;) - Nitron
