I'm not interested, but I will respond. I used to be into archery when I was a kid. I had all the latest stuff; I even had a straw-filled freestanding target in my garden. But then one day I saw a pigeon had landed on an overhanging tree, and being a kid who used to think this kind of thing was cool, I took a shot at it and [literally] nailed it to the tree branch :(. I was so disturbed at the sight of this poor little bird flapping like mad but not moving as the lower part of its body was attached to my arrow and the tree; and being nine at the time; that I pretty much packed it up right then. My dad to shoot the pigeon with his air rifle as it wasn’t dieing. After that my archery stuff never left that garage, and indeed it was left there when we moved house. Now I am into airsoft guns, and started a small collection a year or so ago, with an AK47 and the Tokyo Mariu made PSG-1 replica (seriously nice to play with). There’s just something very satisfying about target shooting, and airsoft replicas add that little bit extra fun that archery never gave me. Boys and their toys… Coincidentally, I was just reading about your archery hobby last night on your website! David Wulff dwulff@battleaxesoftware.com

Well, SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) says that if I want to buy an AR-15, I have to sell the archery stuff. I've only shot targets with this rig, so I don't have any traumatic memories connected with the equipment. :)

What exactly do you plan to do with an AR-15, and does SWMBO know what an AR-15 is? -Matt Newman :suss:

John, I am interested in knowing more about the stuff. Was going to buy my first setup this year but my taste for the finer things in life forced the price too high to swallow for now. Drop me an email with the breakdown and we can talk. ~Cliff

Yeah, she knows what an AR-15 is. I'm getting her a Glock 40 and a shotgun (her call, not mine - grin).

I just sold a burner on ebay, although I doubt I'd have found a Hobart buyre on CP, it would be cool to see what bits others here are selling. Not quite, though I do know an archer who shot an arrow (it might have been a broadhead, I can't remember) through a TV camera once! He was being filmed as part of a documentary on the longbow and they placed the camera (fortunately unmanned) behind the target. The arrow went straight through the target and into the camera. He did warn them it would happen, but they didn't believe him.... Personally I never got into archery (thought about it though). Halberds and Polearms are more my style, though I can swing a sword reasonably well if I need to. :-D Andy Metcalfe - Sonardyne International Ltd
