I'm gonna be a daddy! My wife is pregnant with our first child - due on March 4th 2004 (my wifes birthday is March 2nd and mine is March 18th!). I'm so excited I could pop! We have our first scan this week (12 weeks). Here in the UK you get one free scan on the NHS at 21 weeks, but we have decided to cough up £90 for a private one now ('cos the 21 week scan is mid-October which seems a long time away). And when I find out who got her pregnant, I'm gonna kill him!  I have decided to start keeping a diary, and a blog seems like the 21st Century equivalent. I already have the web-space, so could anyone recommend some basic blog software that I can use to keep things simple? (I just need to be able to edit pages and post them onto my site). Of course, I could always use FrontPage... :) :) :) :) :)

Congratulations! :-D:-D:-D Sorry I can't recommend any blogging software, as I am currently looking for some myself! Are you going to find out the sex of the baby during the pregnancy or is that going to be a big surpise at the birth? Live to ride. Ride to live.

However, not all hospitals will tell you, even if they are 90%+ certain because someone sued a hospital that got it wrong a while back. Sigh. There was also a scandal a few years ago where some women were being pressured into having a termination by their family if the hospital said it was a girl... :((

ha ha ha. Indeed. In fact, we went on holiday to Barbados but my wife didn't get pregnant until we got back (even though we tried REALLY hard on holiday!). What a waste of money that was!

That is terrible about the terminations. It's doesn't matter if it's a boy or girl. I'm sure everyone has their favourites that they would like but in the end everyone doesn't care as long as it's healthy wee bairn! Live to ride. Ride to live.

Our hospital had the same policy at the early scans but they would tell you at a later scan (i.e. after the point where the baby couldn't be terminated). At the end of the day we didn't find out 'til our son was born, by which point (like most parents, I guess) I was just glad that he was there and all OK :-D "If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?" - Albert Einstein

No, TypePad is a hosted service. It is really fantastic. If you want to host your own blog simply, then use Blogger.com. It can publish to your server via FTP. Or if you want to do it the hard way, download MoveableType and use that, but it is a PITATSU. Congrats on the new life, just make sure it has an easier name than yours!
