Congratulations. I was out for a year + during 2001. it sucks. I was waiting tables, but it's great to code for money after that time. :) BW "In a world full of people, only some want to fly,Isn't that crazy?" - Seal

After 1 year and 2 weeks of unemployment, I'm working again. The great part is that my salary is only slightly less than it was at my previous job. For those who care, I'm working on Family Tree Maker. As I've been plowing through the code (which is mostly a morass of C with some C++) I ran across GridCtrl.h/.cpp from none other than Chris Maunder (copyrighted in 1998!)

Cool! My wife uses Family Tree Maker. I'll have to tell her that I (kinda) know a programmer who works on it! John

You can always ask. Actually, I encourage that. My wife's a genealogy fanatic, so I'm getting her I want list.

, congratulations! Genealogy is a funny thing. How is it possible to know if the administrative papers tell the truth without a DNA test :-D ?

Congrats, Joe! I'm chatting at the moment with a friend who uses the product. Her only complaint is that the free website provided for publishing her tree is limited to 2000 names, and she knows of no way to transfer the whole thing to another site with more space. Great product otherwise, she says - you should have a fun time playing with it.

Congrat's on the new job Joe! ps-fwiw; I bought the best version of the software, expecting to type in my or my parents name and get a geniology chart, but nooo! Just let me search for things I already new...perhaps you could push the "auto create best initial tree for individual" idea up the chain! Sure would blow the competition right out of the water & simple enough to do too... All the Best! NB
