I just discovered a useful feature that I never knew notepad had. I'm sure i'm not the only one that uses a couple of text files on my desktop with ideas, things I need to do etc. If the top line of your file is .LOG (must be uppercase and the only thing on the line), whenever you open the document notepad will insert the date and time on a new line and position the cursor below it ready to type your great idea or TODO...

And this is a good thing? I get kind of nervous when I hear about editors who adds stuff to the text as it pleases.. :~ -- Im hayu samim et hamo'ach shelcha betoch tsipor, hi hayta matchila la'uf achora!

Heck, I thought everyone already knew that - I've been using it for years! It's great for tracking user events; just start a file for each user and reopen it whenever you service his/her PC.:-D

Notepad to track service? :| Don't you know that there is perfectly good, inexpensive software out there to do that? :-D Since I happen to make my living selling it I won't mention it here by name but, notepad?, c'mon! ------------ Tomorrow is the same day as today was yesterday.

... and it's even documented! (both in NT4.0's and W2K's incantation, at least).

Sorry about that, but I'm in no condition financially to be using anyone's tracking software - it's got to be free or it's not available.
