Here is an odd story... For the first half of this year, I lived next to a house about two years old that was abandoned because the owner didn't make the house payment. It was foreclosed on. This past July, a couple in their forties moved in. I watched the guy turn his water on using a street key. This is the main hookup to the city lines. I thought that was strange but left it at that. This past Sunday, I looked outside my window at around 12:30am. I saw around 10 poster sized signs in this guy's yard. Curious, I went for a look. Here someone placed signs in his yard that said "evict me", "I do not pay a mortgage", "I do not pay taxes", and "free appliances." The next morning I visited another neighbor that is a friend. He explained that the family goes from house to house and take up residence using ancient squatter’s rights laws. Using the laws, once someone moves into a home, they must to an evicted even though they broke into the home. This can take months. He was attempting to upgrade his home for a larger model on the other side of the division when the neighbors from that area figured out what he was doing. They then proceeded to create a mob and began a demonstration outside of his house which is next door to me. Now the whole neighborhood is in fits over this issue. The police already know about the guy because he has been doing it for the past 15 years. But, he made a very big mistake. He began stealing appliances and furnaces from the new builds in the division. He now has felony warrants out for his arrest. He disappeared over the weekend but his wife is still there. She posted "no trespassing" signs and keeps a pitbull mutt outside. This neighborhood averages $160,000 to $200,000 which will buy you a 2400 to 2800 square foot house. Now it looks like a trailer park with the guard dog. I had no idea that someone could still claim squatter's rights in this day. Todd

Shoot the dog, then put up signs in the park giving the address as a free homeless shelter. She'll move...

That is unfair to the dog. Some other solutions: 1. Call animal control on the dog. Or shoot it with a tranquilizer and take it to animal control yourself. 2. Put up a sign that says "Free dog" next to the "Free homeless shelter" sign. 3. Take something smelly, nasty, and gross and throw it near the dog. Dog will be occupied for hours. You know, it's usually pretty easy to find utility lines (e.g., water, electricity, phone, cable). Sure would be a shame if somehow they were to get disconnected. Sure would be a shame. :-D "When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. Yes, this does seem like a place where such things are possible. Fortunately, eviction only takes five days in Arizona, and the cops will boot them out for you.:)

Roger idea is good, you need to get rid of the dog. Some facts: 1. Dogs love to eat meat 2. Dogs die when eat poison. About the dog owner: 1. People love to eat barbecue 2. People die when eat poison. About homeless people: 1. They eat their own dog's food. Now, if the dog and the homeless die with the same poison people will deduce... Time to invite your new neighboors for a barbecue on their own lawn, and you'll bring the food! :) Legal Disclaimer: I am just joking. If you want to kill someone, kill yourself. Actually put some vinegar in a squirt gun. If you go past the dog and he starts, just squirt him in the nose with the vinegar. It won't hurt him, but he won't bother you. Also, have a mob available to kick the people out.

squatters can also gain possession of property by squatting, not just stay there for awhile most US states have laws about "adverse possession" with things like, if you have lived in an open manner (ie, not secretly) on some property for a certain period of time (like 7 years) then you can go to the courthouse and claim that property is yours the reason is that if the owner has not done anything about your squatting for 7 years, then they don't care, or deserve to lose it, or something

Todd

Call the fire marshall, have the place declared a fire hazard, and then get them to burn it down for a training exercise. Call Asscroft and tell them that terrorists are using it as a meeting place. Come on, get creative!

I found out last night that the guy living in the squatted house was picked up by the police. He was in the house and tried to sneak out in a friends house. A neighbor followed the get away car and phoned it into police. Also, the guy who is listed on the title (my old neighbor)is in a hospital in Texas. The police mailed him a letter to become "his representative" which gives them the right to boot the dead beats. Todd
