so, i love the idea of open source. even use some of it. but how do you make money? how does nullsoft(winamp) make money? i have a wife and 2 kids to provide for, i therefore make a living writing software in a microsoft environment. if i went independent, selling products i've written, i would continue down the non-open source path. any thoughts? Easy; 1) Release all your source code, ensuring you have some clever small print in the agreement, and patents on the important parts. 2) Wait 5 years to ensure the code proliferates 3) Sue everyone for breach of patent/copyright/whatever  John[^]

Getting enough people to love your stuff, and then selling shirts, coffee mugs, and mouse pads with your logo. :-D "When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity." - Albert Einstein
