They did the same with the first movie, and, both then and now, I'd rasther pay money for the extended disc with a preview of the next movie. The *really* bad part is that I will end up forking more green bills when they'll have an "ultra-mega-extended" edition with all three movies in. Plus.. the 20th anniversary will prompt them to do Yet Another Edition, and so on and so forth... [sigh/] F.O.R.

I don't follow Amazon, etc, so I didn't know about the first one. My point is they shouldn't rub it in our face "Ha ha you should have waited". Day 64 of Fridge Science Experiment: nothing blinking yet.

(rant) I just bought the LOTR2T DVD, and on the extras disc, there is a preview of the Extended edition LOTR2T DVD coming out soon (November I think).:omg::wtf: They could have warned us not to buy this, to wait until then, oh no. They expect us to fork out for THAT too? Of course we will. (/rant) Day 64 of Fridge Science Experiment: nothing blinking yet.

back in my days hehe you had the 3' mix, 6'66" mix, 7',33' mix, extended mix, coke bottle mix, of basically the same sequencer sounds, with slight modifications, and maybe a single unique 5" sound sample somewhere in there. Yep, they expected to fork out for each. Separately. Meet the new boss. You think that's bad, look at T2. There are like 5 or 6 different DVD versions of that movie. X| --Mike-- Ericahist | Homepage | RightClick-Encrypt | 1ClickPicGrabber Ericahist updated Aug 30!

Actually, New Line Cinema (?) is one of the very few movie studios that has been upfront about this sort of thing since day one. Fellowship was still in theaters I think when I first heard that extended DVD editions would come out for all three movies, and I'm definitely not the type who spends hours looking at DVD news sites. Besides, even if you didn't know, aren't you aware there's an extended edition of Fellowship out right now? If so, then it doesn't take much thinking to figure out TTT would get one too. You wanna rant, rant about Terminator 2. There's at least 4 or 5 versions.

Richard Jones wrote: I just bought the LOTR2T DVD Hey, I did to, yesterday, but I haven't watched it yet. I bought it at a video rental store (Rogers video) for CAN$27.00 then saw it at the grocery store (Safeway) for CAN$22.00! Odd that a grocery store sells it for less than a video store. I'm not forking out for anything but the next episode.

If it sells well....it is good marketing If it bombs....it is poor planning :-D "Marketing: Hey, we found some more unused 8mm material hiding under the floorboards shot by that 10 year old who visited the set one day - lets release another DVD with a behind-the-scenes special featurette!"
