    Telemarketers are now screening their calls[^], instead of the other way around. The American Teleservices Association isn't laughing at Dave Barry, not after the Pulitzer Prize-winning humor columnist for The Miami Herald listed the group's telephone number in his Aug. 31 column and sparked a flood of phone calls to the group's offices. Barry told his readers to call and "tell them what you think." Thousands of Barry's readers have done as they were told, forcing the association to stop answering its phones. Callers now hear a recording, which says that because of "overwhelming positive response to recent media events, we are unable to take your call at this time." He he :-D

                Everyone I know (and myself) flocked to sign up for the National Do-Not-Call Registry[^], when it was made available. I'd suggest that everyone sign up to the National Do-Not-Call Registry[^] ASAP. My theory is: if everyone signs-up, and there are no phone numbers left for those bastards to call, then the estimated 2 million of 6.5 million telemarketers that are losing their jobs, will be increased. This is the only time that I agree that someone should lose their jobs.                       I feel sorry for the few left to call after this... ...And it must be hard for those 4.5 million callers to get through to them... ;P
