Maybe it's a stupidly idea but is it possible to write own shell for XP? but not explorer replacement rather some like KDE which replaces complete windows graphical interface.

In theory yes it is since you can write a new windows that utilizes the NT kernel and executive. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

*sigh* Why is it that everytime someone's program doesn't work, it is Microsoft doing something to prevent them. Maybe you just don't know how to do it. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

There's a whole bunch of alt-shells. I use (and code for) GeoShell.

Have you guys ever gone as far as replacing the login stuff with GINA (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/security/security/gina.asp)? That would be pretty damn cool! ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned

havn't done it but i've had to work with a company brewed GINA replacement once it tried to validate via a HP-UX machine, and get updates. But eventually you were very lucky if it let you login. ever since I have been allergic to these extentions :) Rutger
