http://ntbugtraq.ntadvice.com/default.asp?sid=1&pid=47&aid=78[^] It has been posted in the NTBugtraq list for sometime. When I heard about it I thought that it was quite a silly proposal. I got a chance to read it today and I feel that there might be some sense to it esp. if the average cost per computer that attacks cost is in the range of $477 (:omg: ). What do you guys think?

i have to admit i do kinda see the logic people are responsible for their cars for example and ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law there maybe it would stop all the dumb*sses from opening emails with executable attachments at least

I think enough legislation exists already, it's just a matter of applying it. Lets say Joe_PublicA sends Big_Business a virus, then Big_Business should sue Joe_PublicA for the losses incurred. If Big_Business sends Joe_PublicA to Joe_PublicZ a virus then a class action should be taken against Big_Business. Also ISP's should be sued for continuing to allowing viruses to pass through their system to another system. Virus detection and heuristics is not rocket science, but the way society treats it is. Individuals who either haven't heard that attachments are bad, No offense, but can't we just shoot all the AOLers, it would solve so many problems.

why not "if the attack exploits a bug in existing system it fires fine for its producer"? using another words: why i (stupid user) have to pay? they have to send me patches (and at their own costs), it was their mistake (maybe i have to be responsible just for installing in defined time - after i surely received them - what if attack will start during my download of patch? and download: my costs again) and btw. why anyone has to block my computer by any attacks? than he/she/it has to pay me for my lost it all is nonsense similar to great idea i was reading this week about pay to spammers to not spamm me t!
