Anyway, in that movie (which is set some time in the future) at one point they talk about going to the Arnold Schwarzenegger Presidental Library! It was a funny line at the time, but now it's starting to look like life imitating art!

Yes! I can remember that! Stalone seemed very upset about the fact and said something like "Put me back in the fridge!". They also said that the constitution was changed in order to allow a not US-native person to be the president. Let's wait a few years and see if this can happen too!

The only part that Gov. Davis played in all this was to pull the trigger by an executive order, rather than waiting for the legislature to handle this detail. He knew that was not going to happen, given the Republican attitude of avoiding all tax increases (even though this is not really a tax) and he needed to restore a revenue source to the state to make up for the recent losses. Sorry, I missed that. :doh: Still, this issue gets to me more than most because very few people have taken the time to really understand it. (Of course that's because most people would rather watch a Friends re-run than think about politics, even though politics has a much greater impact on their lives.) Gov. Davis gets slammed for tripling the tax, when in reality he merely took the heat for the legislature by returning it to its previous level himself because that's what the law, passed by that same legislature, said is supposed to be done and the members of the legislature are too timid (or partisan) to make the tough decisions. "The Schwarzenegger Presidential Library" just sounds weird. The kindest thing you can do for a stupid person, and for the gene pool, is to let him expire of his own dumb choices.
