Yes! I can remember that! Stalone seemed very upset about the fact and said something like "Put me back in the fridge!". They also said that the constitution was changed in order to allow a not US-native person to be the president. Let's wait a few years and see if this can happen too!

The only part that Gov. Davis played in all this was to pull the trigger by an executive order, rather than waiting for the legislature to handle this detail. He knew that was not going to happen, given the Republican attitude of avoiding all tax increases (even though this is not really a tax) and he needed to restore a revenue source to the state to make up for the recent losses. (Of course that's because most people would rather watch a Friends re-run than think about politics, even though politics has a much greater impact on their lives.) Gov. Davis gets slammed for tripling the tax, when in reality he merely took the heat for the legislature by returning it to its previous level himself because that's what the law, passed by that same legislature, said is supposed to be done and the members of the legislature are too timid (or partisan) to make the tough decisions.
