It must be 15 or more years ago that show was first recorded. Oddly it's just about the only program that came out of the U.K. that went to America and didn't immediatly suck. Somehow when the U.S. producers take over a show from the UK they seem to have a real talent for sucking out all the particular details that made it so good in the first place. Why they don't just plunk it down straight from the originals and see what happens is a bit of a mystery. Most in the U.S. have probably never seen an episode of Attachments or great short run series like Auf Widershien Pet or any of a million good modern comedies (other than the older series like Chef! and Lovejoy on PBS) I watch a lot of programs from the UK on BBC Canada only to see them suddenly appearing in the U.S. a few years later in a much suckier format. I could probably list a dozen off the top of my head. I don't know why the U.K. is such a hot bed of interesting new television programs but few in the U.S. seem to realize such a large second "british invasion" is going on. It must be odd for someone moving there from the U.K. to turn on the tv and see so many shows that they saw years before but with funny new actors and strange U.S. accents.

The way I see it, UK and US sense of Humor are fundamentally different. Having said that, I agree with you that most of the ported over stuff do suck. ;) The sad thing is, my Country is also beginning the trend of porting over shows. Suffice to say, they suck as well. X|

Do you guys watch this programme? It's the only programme that consistently has me rolling on the floor episode after episode. :-D The premise of the show is interesting too. Every episode, 4 comedians will try to act out some skits based on what the audience or the presenter chooses. The beauty of the thing is that it's all unscripted, so you get to see some really funny stuff that they make up on the spot. IHMO, Ryan & Colin are the funniest of the bunch, though Wayne is probably the most talented. High Recommendations for the show. Any of you have the chance, try to catch an episode and you'll see what I mean. :-D

Drew Carrey isn't really funny in the show, which is a pity, really, coz I liked him in the Drew Carey Show

Indeed, he is outclassed by the other guys. I think it is pretty obvious that Drew Carrey is a weasel, very good at marketing and climbing the star ladder. He knows who to flatter and who to use. In the Drew Carrey Show he is funny because his lines are written a week before by comic writers. I used to lie in the bath on Sunday afternoons cracking up listening to it. Like a good book, having to imagine the visuals worked really well. Of course the games were more vocal than visual (hearing Lenny Henry trying to rap was really funny). Perhaps the BBC web site will re-run some of the original. Neil

Another in a long line of British comedy that started on Radio 4 ... Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. Knowing me knowing you (aha !) ( Alan Partridge) Dead Ringers The news quiz (Have I got news for you) I am still waiting for 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue' to be inflicted on the wider world . It would be brilliant to watch people trying to grasp the rules of Mornington Crescent. Space reserved for wit , humour and correct spelling.

Drew is a jerk, and makes it clear to the others (even Ryan, who is co-producer) that he's "in charge". He's definatly a homophobe, which the others use a lot to get him pretty pissed off. The show has been canceled IIRC, due to Wayne going off to do his own gig (that'll flop), and Drew going to Vegas for one thing or another, and the rest of the crew is just getting tired. The show is pretty hit or miss. Everyone hates the stupid Hoedown, but Drew makes them do it because he likes it. Scenes from a Hat is the crowd-pleaser, but they obviously edit the hell out of it (I would pay for a DVD of nothing but that, raw). Wayne definatly has talent as a paradoy singer, and could cut a few records and get Weird Al a run for his money. But that's probably passe nowadays, since it's all about bubblegum music and hiphop. Only one eposide sticks out is where they wanted to do a Hitler and Bill Cosby episode as a roomies, and the stage manager stopped them. The rest of the crew got pissed because they thought it was about Hitler, it wasn't - it was because they were worried that "Dr" Bill Cosby (who is REALLY anal) would get upset about being linked with Hitler, even in a comedic way. So of course they spent the rest of the show working Hitler into the skits.
