51 injured, 18 dead 5 of which were children. Israel shouldn't build a fence, they should borrow a couple of MOABs and put them to use. UN sympathy with the Palestinians == one more reason the organization is worthless. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&u=/nm/20031004/ts_nm/mideast_dc_30[^] Mike

I guess it is a matter of perspective. What I see from this side of the world is a mass of humanity spending a half century breeding and living on the world dole while demanding ther own nation and killing because they don't have it. The same energy invested in building a nation would have yielded, guess what, a nation. There is no doubt in my mind that is these people declared themselves to be a nation floodgates of support would open up and they would be drowned in money and opportunity. That is all it would take. Declare. But then they'd have to produce and wouldn't have anyone to blame. Mike

The West Bank and Gaza Strip are under Israeli occupation and Palestinian territory is progressively being taken away from the Palestinians by Israeli settlers, backed by the Israeli military. Declaring a nation won't get rid of the Israelis. It wouldn't make a jot of difference. John Carson

Every time Israel makes an effort to allow Palestinian statehood, Hamas and Al Aqsa begin blowing up civilians. Why in the world are people against Israel building a fence to try and stop the murderous Palestinians from killing their civilians?

After being hounded by the rest of humanity for 2,000 years they intent to both survive and succeed. That isn't the point I attempted to make and apparently not clear enough. If the Palestinians had the cojones to declare a nation, 95% of the UN member nations would recognize them as a nation. Then they would, as I said earlier, be drowned in aid and opportunity. Again, the only thing I see holding them back is the fact they would then be forced to succeed as a nation and couldn't whine that, :the Israelis won't let us have our own country". Both would have to negotiate and neither could turn down UN/EU/US/Russian monitors o guarantee some degree of real peace. The real fact is the Palestinians DO NOT WANT A NATION, they want the death of Israeli. Screw'em I say. Mike

After the last announcements about the settlements and the construction of the Wall which will annex new lands to Israel, it's not surprizing to have such reaction from the extremists. Of course, if this new bombing can be explained, it can't be excused. It's such a tragedy when Israelian or Palestinian children are killed, by bombs from helicopters or suicidal fanatics. Israel will retaliate in a few days, new suicidal attacks will occur to avenge from the retalation, Israel will retaliate, new suicidal attacks will occur, Israel will retaliate...

The other Arab states can't stand the palestinians and are using them as an excuse to murder Israeli women and children. Look, its cool - you side with those that slaughter children on purpose. WHatever. I disagree. I recognize Israel as a state. Palestine has territory that Israel has begun withdrawing from several times and every time Israel begins withdrawing, the Palestinians begin murdering Israeli civilians. All the Palestinians need to do is recognize Israels right to exists, denounce terrorism and like Mike said, the world will recognize the Palestinian state and send in UN buffer troops and begin sending Palestine aid. THe reason this isn't happening is because Arafat and his butt buddies in Hamas and Hezbollah are well funded by states like Syria and Iran who do not want to see peace in the region because they use the conflict as a way to turn world opinion against the west for supporting Israel.

You're missing the point entirely. But as long as there are Palestinian homocide bombers in reality, it doesn't matter a whit that Israelis want to deport anyone - but, Israeli leaders are obligated to defend their people and they have my sympathy. Again, even with fractured non-contiguous land if the Palestinians declared themselves a nation they would be in the driver's seat. They're too focused on their real goal to go after what they claim to want. This is far too obvious. Mike

Once we recognize this new govt. we will answer their plea for help in expelling the Syrian occupiers and the Hezbollah troops. If we kill enough Hezbollah troops we will find a smoking gun to Iran. Luckily we still haven't rotated our main combat troops out of iraq. So Tehran is just a few days drive away! PAX AMERICANA!!!!!!!!

WHatever.

Mike
