I have been using this GeForce 2 64 MB graphic card for some time and this few days my pc starts to blackout during booting from time to time. When my pc first boot up, it will normally display my grahic card info on the top left of the screen and i notice that it became 32MB instead of 64MB. Does anyone of you have any idea what is going on? :~ Weiye, Chen When pursuing your dreams, don't forget to enjoy your life...

Terrorist have stolen half of your Graphics card memory (which is very fast and thus very valuable), so they can sell it on the black market and fund a cyberwar against Nigerian spammers.

Sure. Power supply is probably flaking out. Try replacing that with something higher-end instead of the Chum-Ya $10 specials, and see if that helps.

Have any thunderstorms lately? :) I bet your video RAM is stored on two 32MB chips and one went bad for whatever reason. I've had similar experiences like this in the past. BTW, do you have a modem or dsl line? If so, make sure the phone cord runs through a surge protector. Jeremy Falcon

WeiyeChen wrote: Yes, but what is a surge protector? An inline fused device that will blow a $0.20 fuse or a circuit breaker rather than cooking your video RAM. For phone/dsl, look for a power strip with 2 phone jacks on it. You'll connect the power strip to your phone jack in the wall and to your computer. (The phone line goes through the power strip). WeiyeChen wrote: Does it cost alot? This is like, "Does a car cost alot?". I have a full 1000VA UPS that will do this for about $100, but a base surge protector should be under $10. Search for "surge protector" at buy.com. Belkin, APC, and Monster are my personal favorite manufacturers. Hope this helps.

Yes, it’s the cheapest way to go if you don’t find a good deal online or something, but you still won’t have 64MB of video RAM. Also, you may need to reapply its thermal paste. And, if you any other peripherals just one slot away from the card (like the PCI right next the AGP) back them up one to give the heat from the card room to dissipate. Jeremy Falcon
