I've been having a BIG problem with pop-up ads lately. When I turn on my PC, I get pop-ups before I even open up my web browser. When I surf the web, I get ads and windows that ask me to install different plugins. While I was posting this message, I had about three or four such ads pop up that I'm sure have no connection to Code Project. How do I get rid of these ads and how do I prevent them in the future? Well I suspect the problem lies deeper. I'd try AdAware. Cheers Martin "Situation normal - all fu***d up" Illuminatus! http://www.martin-haesemeyer.de

I'll second Martin's suggestion - AdAware. "Your village called -

Try Spybot - Search & Destroy security.kolla.de[^] It's faster, also free. Igor.

In addition to running AdAware[^], get the latest IE patches to close up security holes, and read the EULAs on everything you install to see if the apps come with spyware/adware. --Mike-- Ericahist | CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | Homepage | RightClick-Encrypt | 1ClickPicGrabber There is a saying in statistics that a million monkeys pounding on typewriters would eventually create a work of Shakespeare. Something thats not slow: http://404Browser.com[^]. As far as the popups I suspect that its ad ware unless you had multiple windows open (cp doesn't have popup ads). -Steven Hicks

Try Netscape 7.1 its free and has a built in popup blocker. I haven't seen a popup in months. BTW the default setting for Netscape is to allow 5 or 6 companies to pop-you-up. I disabled this before I used it. Jeff Patterson Programmers speak in Code. http://www.anti-dmca.org[^]

And don't forget to turn off the Messenger service. ;P If your nose runs and your feet smell, then you're built upside down.
