Hey, I've been gone from here for awhile, been job hunting, but I'm back. I've finnaly found a job, I know some of you will hate me for this, but I now work for Microsoft. Before you tar and feather me, let me explain. I've programmed in the C family for as long as I've been programming, my last job I was a Developer (Microsoft programmer) so, working for them was the next logical step. But, I vow to change the system. My Microsoft will be a less buggy one. Where things work how they're supposted to, and security holes are a thing of the past. That will be my Microsoft. Anyways, I'll step out of my dream world to ask a question: I got the Matrix Reloaded DVD (I just really like that movie that much, I think it was the medieval weapons fight scene), and on the first DVD there's a white rabbit easter egg, is there anything like that on the first disc and I just missed it? Anyways, it's good to be back on CP, I was getting DT's.

Cool, you have a job !!! About Matrix Reloaded, I think it was a piece of crap ... unimaginative, going nowhere.

There's nothing wrong with working for Microsoft. I work for a MS gold partner. I used to work right next door to their Johannesburg building in South Africa. There was some great people working there. Good luck! N

Welcome back, and congrats on the job. Though I wonder why you have to be so apologetic about it. MS is a great company that everyone wants to be associated with, one way or the other, even if they don't admit it. On Matrix Reloaded, sorry, haven't seen it. No time. :)

Yes-- at least some pressings had it. My Matrix (movie one) has that white rabbit feature. And in fact, it boggles my dvd player a little bit. There are six or eight places in the movie where, when watching the normal movie (without the white rabbit feature) the frame freezes for a teeny instant, and the movie continues. Not a major headache, but noticable. It wasn't until later that I realized that those teeny little 'freezes' were coinciding with that white rabbit feature-- even though I wasn't watching the movie in that 'mode'. Oh, good luck and congrats on the job. I hope to post something similar one of these days. Paul

You're there just to make money to pay the rent, and get a nice line-item on your resume. Just grind code out and keep your head down, unless you want it shot off or be roped into some BS project of the week.

Or at least get paid for ignoring it. Either way. Nice thoughts, but in my opinion, Microsofts problems don't stem from their programmers, they stem from their marketing department. Microsoft's corporate strategy is based heaviliy upon the 'market positioning' of its products*. We tech folks tend to hate this, but alas, it's a necessary evil of the tech world in general- not just software, but hardware. It's a very long and complicated argument, and subject to much debate, of course. Microsoft is, in my opinion, merely a very pragmatic company-- take that or leave it. There are companies with better engineering, but lousy positioning. I've even had a long term theory (and forgive me if I'm slow to catch on to something that everyone else believes to be obvious)that Microsoft actually 'tolerates' a certain amount of software piracy because in the end, it gets their products into peoples hands by hook or by crook. But now I'm changing the subject. Sometimes I do that. My bad. Paul * this is of course, my opinion, and subsequently subject to flame, criticism or other assorted nastiness from anyone who has a different opinion-- all of which are fully entitled to the holder of said opinion.

For awhile I'm gonna be a gofor for my friend who put his job on the line to get me one there. So if I screw up, we're both fired. According to the supervisor for the first few months I'm just gonna be his gofor, learning the ropes and such. After that, if I don't screw up, I'm gonna be working along-side him on projects he gets. Then, on some unnamed date after that, I get my own cube and become assimilated completley. Ressistance is futile.
