When is this scheduled for release? Whidbey also?

If my mind thinks along the same path as yours, this should be in the soapbox. The kindest thing you can do for a stupid person, and for the gene pool, is to let him expire of his own dumb choices. [Roger Wright on stupid people] We're like private member functions [John Theal on R&D] We're figuring out the parent thing as we go though. Kinda like setting up Linux for the first time ya' know... Longhorn is alleged to be scheduled for 2006. I don't think this date has been confirmed offically. I guess it will be 'It'll be ready, when it's ready' kind of things. Whidbey should hit beta sometime early 2004, and a full release to follow later in the year. small penis jokes are tame enough these days. Censorship has gone to the dogs. TV is a prime example. I don't need to rent porn anymore, it's on TV after midnight. And don't tell me parents should keep a better leash on their kids and stop them from accessing mature content. Kids can be very resourceful, if there's inappropriate stuff out there they'll find a way to get at it. I think we need a tighter leash on content, not on viewers. That sounds extreme... all I'm trying to say is there shouldn't be porn on my basic cable TV.

Then should parents just let children access whatever they want, since according to you, they're going to do it anyway? good point. Ok I will never tell a joke around here again that has anything to do with sex. Censorship prevails on codeproject. But I'm still up in arms about the tv. :)
Oinka wrote: Ok I will never tell a joke around here again that has anything to do with sex. Censorship prevails on codeproject. That's not what I'm saying. This is a professional developers site. The lounge is somewhere to kick back and talk about non-tech things. But small penis jokes and religious discussions and cricket (!), etc should all go in the Soapbox. Personally, I don't care about small penis jokes, but not everyone else here is like that. You can say awhat you want (basically) in the soapbox. just keep the other stuff out of the lounge. That's all I'm trying to say. And god's sake, don't ask a programming question in the lounge. :-D The kindest thing you can do for a stupid person, and for the gene pool, is to let him expire of his own dumb choices. Do you know whether the new XAML mode of UI programming will be part of Whidbey, or if we have to wait for that until Longhorn gets released? Of what I've read it seems so nice...
Rohde wrote: Do you know whether the new XAML mode of UI programming will be part of Whidbey, From what I've read, XAML is a Longhorn only technology. A shame but understandable. I am currently working on my own XML UI defintion system... it would have been nice if Microsoft had done the work for me ;-) For details on Whidbey have a read of the roadmap. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/productinfo/roadmap.aspx[^] Michael 'Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority.' - The Doctor: The Wheel in Space
