I had a job interview with an major auto supplier and I never made it. I left an hour early to make sure I am there on time, it only takes about 35 minutes to get there. Well, my car starts to sputter. Oh crap, is there enough gas, I check the gauge and there is enough. Then all is okay. A half mile later, sputter, sputter, cough, the car is dead. I go to reach for my cell phone, and it's not there. I run about a half mile to the nearest public phone and call my wife to pick me up. I get back to my car and try to open the door, it's locked with my keys inside. Ugh!! I've never had a car break down and I've never locked my keys inside of the house or car. Well two hours later, I sit writing this. Luckily, the company has rescheduled the interview for Monday. I was hoping to celebrate this weekend with a new job. Oh well. Has anybody had a similar experience or some other disaster on their way to an interview? If you have, did you get the job, or did it adversly affect your chances?

I had a job interview, and lost my keys at home. While I'm running around searching, the dog is hanging around close underfoot. I snapped and yelled at her, so she hid.:(( I called the company up and got them to delay the interview 1 hour. I did get hired. I try to think but nothing happens.

My lovely wife once locked the keys in the car (with our then 2 year old daughter strapped in the child safety seat). OT: Since she was close to where I work she called me. I left immediately and was only about one minute away when a cop offers to use his "slim jim" and proceeds to break the linkage inside the door that moves the lock mechanism. All I've ever wanted was an honest week's pay for an honest day's work.

My dad locked his keys in his new Jag the day he bought it home. Now I didn't know this, but apparently Jag's are notoriously easy to get into... which I know firmly believe after seeing him get in in under five seconds with a bent coat hanger. It slipped straight in, catch went straight up! It didn't even trigger the alarm. :omg:

I scheduled an interview with a company a couple of weeks in the future. Between scheduling the interview and the actual date it was supposed to occur, I got an offer for a short term contract. I started working there the day before my scheduled interview. I meant to call and reschedule, but completely forgot about it. I realized about 30 minutes after the interview was supposed to start that I never called them. Needless to say, I didn't get a job there.

No job interview stories. But my husband did manage to lock the keys in the car at the Blyde River Canyon (middle of nowhere, SA Mpumalanga) when we had taken some youngsters on a trip . Fortunately it was close to a visitor centre, and it didn't take too long for a kind mechanically-minded soul to come along and save us :).

Once I got a phone interview from a firm and the same day I supposed to move to another apartment. Earlier that week I called the phone company to cancel the phone line effective from the moving day. I thought they would disconnect the phone line 12 PM the day I was moving. So I ended up waiting for the phone call. :-O Later I realized that the phone company disconnected the line when the date is changed. (12:01 AM of moving day)

Ouch, that's really rotten luck! Hope it goes better on Monday. My only bad luck on the way to a job interview was that I got there and they gave me the job. :suss:
