Is this really a problem?

I think public kissing is a crime here [I am not sure abt the legal implications]. But I remember what I read once in the newspaper abt how a lover couple were arrested by the police for public kissing. Smitha Every person, all the events of your life, are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you. -- Richard Bach
It's not a crime here, AFAIK, though IANAL, of course. Plus I've seen people doing it, even in public places. The news incident you are talking about probably had more to it than was published in the paper. Most of the time they water it down (DOH! but you know how it is here). So most probably the couple were doing something more than just kissing. :suss: Regards, Rohit Sinha Browsy

I just read in our local paper about police fining people for public kissing in Moscow.:wtf: Just how bad can it be? Are they making out on the floor or what? Suppressing them could lead to sterile, cold people who show no affection, teaching their kids to be the same. I try to think but nothing happens.
But if they allow kissing, what next... Dancing?! (gasp) Richard Jones wrote: I just read in our local paper about police fining people for public kissing in Moscow. Just how bad can it be? Seems strange in light of this recent survey: A new global sex survey by condom maker Durex shows Eastern Europeans have the most plentiful sex lives, with Hungarians, Bulgarians, and Russians all reporting having sex more than 150 times a year. http://webcenter.health.webmd.netscape.com/content/article/74/89189.htm?DEST=WebMD_contentSRC_nsmain[^] ------------------------------------------ The ousted but stubbornly non-dead leader reportedly released an audiotape this weekend, ending by calling on Iraqis to, quote, "resist the occupation in any way you can, from writing on walls, to boycotting, to demonstrating and taking up arms." adding, "you know, pretty much anything I used to kill you for." - The Daily Show

Remind me to never have my girlfriend near you. People have called me lewd in public. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Anna-Jayne Metcalfe wrote: "Cynicism has it's place in life - but it should be kept well away from your inner self." Crikey! ain't life grand?

In any case, fines for simply kissing are too far, but it's hard to draw the line where "kissing" is inappropriate in public.

I suspect our views on this might be slightly different. Boy if I lived there my girlfriend and I would have to take out a loan to pay for our fines... John

Hear, hear Anna! I have been told off by my own sister for showing affection for my girlfriends in public. So what if we were up against that wall snogging like there was no tomorrow. You love each other for gods sake, nobody is going to tell me I cannot embrace her passionately and kiss for 5 minutes. Lot worse things happening on our streets than that that people don't mind. So uncomfortable with our sexuality it is frightening! Get over it! Hold hands, kiss, hug, caress, get on your knee and sing, stop being so repressed! regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Anna-Jayne Metcalfe wrote: "Cynicism has it's place in life - but it should be kept well away from your inner self." My thoughts exactly Paul. The world has too many repressed people as it is!
