CPU Fire Of The Day: We have a computer set up in the middle of the operating room core at the hospital I work at. It's set up w/ 3 dual head video cards and displays all the OR cases running/scheduled. Well apparently at 10:00 PM last night, the thing caught fire. Not like "smelling smoke coming from the fan" kind of fire, I mean fire department had to come to check everything out after the computer went up in flames kind of fire. Great times all around :) <---signature---> Your kid gets into Duke. You pay the tuition. That tuition goes into my checking account. My money in my checking account goes into beer, porn, and other such fun. Thank you :)

You failed to mention that the CRNA called the guy who was on call first. Then he had to call the fire department. (He wasn't even at the hospital)

We had one of those at our 911 dispatch centre a few years back. Why is it always a critical system that catches fire? I try to think but nothing happens.

Other than that minor detail, how did the operation in progress at the time come out? I wonder if, because of the constant presence of O2, the OR has an enriched atmosphere, resulting in flames instead of the smoke you'd normally expect? "Your village called -
                  They're missing their idiot."

Breaking news: The hospital is being invistigated again after the CPU fire. The monitor reported fire and is now sueing for smoke inhalation. The hospital responded with no comment. -Steven Hicks
