I remain convinced that anonymous posting should be banned, but the other bug bear is when people have invalid email addresses in their profile. I hate answering someones question only to have the c.c. bounce back to me. Could I please encourage people to check their profile ? I was going to be more direct, but I posted a question to Chris' grid control and it bounced, so I thought better not be too rude to the powers that be... ;P On the other hand, if you're not registered at all, let me encourage you to by saying I for one am far more likely to answer a question if the poster is not anonymous. I don't care if I recognise the name, I just like to see people are part of this place to the point of taking five seconds to register. I'm sure Chris' registration count is helpful in encouraging people to advertise here, which keeps the site up and keeps him in bread and cheese, which is good for us all. If Chris is running out of room for new records, I could suggest a few for deletion (see below ) So what are you waiting for ? Christian As I learn the innermost secrets of the around me, they reward me in many ways to keep quiet. Men with pierced ears are better prepared for marriage. They've experienced pain and bought Jewellery.

The little prick found out he couldn't delete anonymous posts. LOLOL If you haven't already guess, this little pasty-faced faggot royally pissed me off. Too bad he doesn't have the balls to post his real email address. I'd be willing to put money on that possibility that he's Anna. To hell with those thin-skinned pillow-biters. - Me, 10/03/2001

Like so many things Christian, the level to which the forums on CP are locked down is a delicate balance between keeping the shitheads from posting garbage, and making the forums inviting enough to get lurkers to particpate. If someone has a comment that they want to offer to a thread, they may be willing to do that if it doesn't require a 30 field form and background checks on their email address to be done. I've been in that position a thousand times, and so I think it's important. I for one am willing to put up with the occasional post from Hassan or other marginal human beings to keep the door open for valuable posts from those who are just approaching CodeProject, and aren't neceesarily willing to commit to a rigourous application form. In any event, I take great satisfaction watching John ripping these dumb posters a new asshole :) David

Oh, and one more suggestion we should all adopt. If one of these goofs makes a posting, we should quote it in its entirety in our response to negate the value of deleting or modifying it. David

I concur, in that I realise the reasons for allowing anonymous posts. I just can't see for myself why anyone would not register, especially if they want to ask for help. I mean, the c.c. email makes it worthwhile if you're asking something to spend 30 seconds filling in a form, surely ? Colin, if you would please be so kind as not to have a large signature such as yours. Yes it is pretty damned cool but not everyone has high bandwidth connections. It literally takes 5 minutes for the Lounge to download on my South African connection. Even longer with big signatures, animations etc. Remember that each post is preloaded with the page, not just on demand. If anyone thinks I am out of line for asking for this then say so. All I want is a fast loading Lounge so that I can get on with the job of being an opiniated bastard :) p.s. Colin, I think you should help out David Wulff with his Bob flash movie, you obviously have some skill in Flash :) regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible." - Chretien Malesherbes "Give me something better than Windows and I will use it, till then leave me be. It's currently 5143 bites and only needs to be cached once.

Jeesh I feel like such a winging pom for even putting that post up. BUT as an example I just downloaded a 64k file and it took 3 whole frustratingly slow minutes on my connection. I still reckon you and David Wulff should go in together in creating a Bob movie :) So once again sorry for moaning... regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "The greatest thing you will ever learn is to love, and be loved in return" - Moulin Rouge

I've moved my office back home and am on a slow dialup connection. Though it's faster than yours. I'm currently working on an algorithm to increase negotiated modem/bb throughput. You'd make a great test case. :-)

Hey, that's an insult. His version of Bob has square eyes (zoom in real close) and when it fades out you can see the lines over the top of the fills. Mine are just perfect. Look at the downloadable wallpaper on the BLA website for a big picture.
