I've got my 3-year-old's "Little Engines" having a fight with Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up" going on in my head. It has been going on for 3 days now. My last resort is to drown them both during Thanksgiving lunch - maybe the pounding of a hangover will chase them both away X|

Some call this a cognitive itch[^] but I'm not sure I like the idea. I sure do get em tho. Sometimes I find I can stop it by forcing myself to think of Bach's Goldberg Variations theme - it seems to work. What I find really interesting is that these tunes seem to run in a separate thread - I find myself coming 'back' to the tune after thinking of something else. Now, if I could figure out whether the tune is picking up where I left it or is being joined in progress I could decide whether to develop a multi-threaded or multi-processor model of conciousness.

That is interesting reading. Sounds like its doing some IOCTL stuff there - do you have a list of drivers for your system? P.S. FWIW I am now trying to get the frikking Goldberg Variations theme out of my head...

A bit pervasive maybe - but in small doses guaranteed to drive any "Little Engines" out of your head.:~ Trust me, I've listened to it and I'm normal Badgers Badgers Badgers.... :suss: John Hudson I want to see Gollum chomping Frodo's ring finger off and dipping it in Soy Sauce :wtf::eek: http://www.rainbow-innov.co.uk[^]

You ought to try it when taking Prozac, which I take as a migraine headache preventative. Prozac, which is a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (God, that sounds sexy), seems to have minor effects on short term memory. Typically, when I wake up in the morning, the song playing in my head is whatever I was listening to in the car the night before, or on the CD player at work the day before. On top of the tinnitus, my head's a noisy place... :-O

One tactic that's worked for me is to find the song(s), listen to them all the way through, then immediately play a random selection of other songs. Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke
