I think there is a reason why high performance systems use C++ and why brainy boffins use it as well. It is definitely suited for their needs. It is not a dent in egalitarianism IMO regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Brian Welsch wrote: "blah blah blah, maybe a potato?" while translating my Afrikaans. Crikey! ain't life grand?

Working for myself, from home doing pretty much the same kind of code day in, day out - I'm finding that I'm becoming a little stale. Do you know of any programming competitions going on, that might allow me to stretch my programming muscles a little? if you're talking about algorithms there are quite a few sites online which hosts competition every now and then, like ACM and USACO. i cannot remember the link offhand so you've to google them up.

What we need is a list of monthly topics to code against with criteria (speed, elegance etc). I'm more than happy to set this up if I can get enough input from you guys. cheers, Chris Maunder

Do you have the specs for that? I tried implementing that tonight but the beer was room temperature, red, and came in a corked bottle. What am I doing wrong here? cheers, Chris Maunder
