LA. gay mom wants school apology[^] ...The ordeal started with a disturbing phone call on Nov. 11 from the assistant principal at Ernest Gallet Elementary School in Youngsville, just south of town. Marcus is in trouble, the school official had said, for using “foul words” and “talking inappropriately.” It was so bad, Huff remembers him saying, he “didn’t feel comfortable” repeating them over the phone. My grade 1 or 2 teacher told the whole class, in fact I remember what she said. She asked people who believed in Santa to put their hands up, I was the only one who did, and she asked 'how could you be so stupid' ? And now, I have issues.... :P Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

*grin* Actually, I just finished reading his book 'downsize this !!'. I didn't expect it to be too good, but I'd say it's probably his best. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

It's called Zero Tolerance. Those should be considered bad words as well.

My wife and I decided early on to always tell our daughter that Santa Claus was a nice part of the Christmas story, but he was just part of the story. We also explained to her that some kids believed that Santa was real, and that she should respect their beliefs just like she respected their going to a different church or their skin being a different color. She's a smart kid, and this has turned out to be the right approach.

This is a repost! But what the hey! LA is full of Politically Correct lunatics. I read another recent story about them wanting to have hardware manufacturers rename master/slave components[^] because some people might be offended. It doesn't stop in LA though. In the UK a government minister was challenged by a police officer for using the term "Nitty Gritty"[^] on the grounds that it was racist. And on the subject of changing the boundaries of language. What about "Blairspeak"[^] (A branch of the English language not totaly unlike Newspeak in George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four)?? --Colin Mackay--

The LA referred to in the article is the state of Louisiana not the city of Los Angeles. Steve
