Anyone unable to return home for an extended time might be eligible for personal hardship grants of up to $7300. Wow... have fun Chris, aren't you going to miss that great weather up North? ;) Nick Parker - DeveloperNotes.com

Don't worry about it. We have storms like that (80~100 mm in a day) almost every summer and, somehow, we keep surviving. Rains that drop 10~20mm/hour are almost daily. Tom Jobin (one of the guys who composed Girl from Ipanema) has made a famous composition in the rythm of rain drops named "Águas de Março" ("March waters"), talking about these rains. Once I almost lost my car (we have some companies that are specialized on recovering cars from floods) in a scene just like that in the news picture. Sheesh! 100mm is about half a year's worth of rainfall here, and our storm drains back up after a heavy dew. The end of my street turns into a pond if two dogs in one day relieve themselves at the same fire hydrant! Are you sure you want to make this trip? Which do you dislike less, being cold, or being wet and cold? Remember to take the galoshes...:) "Your village called -

We're in a blizzard here on the east coast.:sigh: I just got home from a 2-hour drive when it hit this morning. One of our servers at work is not responding and the boss called telling me to stay home, doesn't want anyone hurt driving in this. My windows are all crusted in snow & ice, strong winds are shaking the building.

Wow - I had no idea this happened. We have had some muggy days, and that's all. I should call my parents.... Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

One guy almost died in this storm because he got trapped in his 4WD when the power windows and doors died and he couldn't get out

It's very foolish IMO to have power doors and/or windows without a way to open them manually - I'd think that would be common sense.

I'm sure this particular guy agrees with you now :-) IIRC, somebody broke the window from outside. The water was up to his neck and he only had a few seconds left.

It will be in the high 30s in Sydney this time of year, I wager. So hot and wet.
