I think walking speed is about 3 mph, so 20 minutes. ------------------------------------------ Law of Nazi Analogies: As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one. PRobably about 20 minutes. 15 if you are walking briskly. No single raindrop believes that it is responsible for the flood.

I had always heard it was ~15 minutes per mile.

That's the one I'd go with. In 1995 I walked home from work frequently which was 4 miles and took 1h15 (~19mins per mile). I did walk briskly but was slowed by pesky pedestrian crossings. (Now George Street in Edinburgh has Zebra Crossing I have priority over cars so I could probably go faster for that section - although I'm more likely to get run over by some 50yo in a "Smart" car... What is it about people in small cars that make them think that since it is a small car then no-one will notice if they quickly nip across a pedestrian crossing WHILE THERE ARE PEDESTRIANS ON IT!) --Colin Mackay--

I'd rather walk a mile in my own shoes :-) Serious answer - I do a mile in about 14 minutes but I walk very fast. I'll bet you can do it even faster if there's a warm pub and a cold beer at the other end.:) "Another day done - All targets met; all systems fully operational; all customers satisfied; all staff keen and well motivated; all pigs fed and ready to fly" - Jennie A.
