:jig: What's everyone else up to today? We are finally (ok, after 3 days... :-O ) going to see ROTK :-D. I also need to test two new lenses for my film camera (a 28mm and a x2 converter) and have the results developed to make sure they are accurate before going home in January. Should be a great day .

It's 12:30 AM here, and I've had a busy day eradicating viruses from a few PCs, all the while playing with Norton Internet Security software which I've never seen before. The morning will be dominated by a karate belt test, which I expect to pass, followed by a pizza party hosted by our karate master. The balance of Saturday will be spent making the obligatory phone calls to family members I hardly know to assure them that I'd really like to be spending Christmas with them (not). Once that task is complete I may do some more practice sessions in C++, or weed-whack the yard, depending upon the weather. Right now it's colder than a well digger's fundament, and the wind is howling. Odds favor C++ at the moment... It's not Saturday here for another... 30 seconds or so ;) I'm just waiting for Jimmy Kimmel to start, and listening to random MP3s. --Mike-- Ericahist | CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | Homepage | RightClick-Encrypt | 1ClickPicGrabber Kosh reminded me of some of the prima-donna programmers I've worked with. I'm watching the 4 part Dinosaur Planet on the Discovery Channel - not bad - would be better if they had kept Avery Brooks / Kenneth Branagh (from earlier shows) instead of Christian Slater as the narriator. Steve

Quite a shame - the number of ad's is incredible! And not just previews for other movies, but ad's for Coke, clothes brands, etc, seem to sneak their way in over here :|. Still, to see ROTK on the big screen it'll be a small price to pay :-D.

Most surprising thing 5 or six PC game ads! Normally, you rarely see one of them. But with geeks in the audience, and christmas near.... Still, I'm uneasy with having been discovered as "target group". It felt so much better to be out of this loop

I also need to test two new lenses for my film camera (a 28mm and a x2 converter) and have the results developed to make sure they are accurate before going home in January. Should be a great day .

My day will consist of recovering from last night (party == 2 hours sleep + headache). Then maybe ROTK if I can find some friends who are able to walk.

Black Belts come in different levels - called "Dans" so you can be 1st Dan, 2nd Dan and so on. Theoretically there is no limit to the dan number you can achieve but practically, the body starts to give out and very few ever get to 5th Dan or higher. Why do I know this? Because I also had a karate grading today. Must be the day for it. I passed but I collected a few bruises along the way. Good fun and I love the physicality of it - it is a great foil to a mentally intensive job. Black belt is really a starting point - it signifies that you have learned the basics (in my school, about 160 techniques). From then on the belt is designated by degrees, called dans. Between dans there are intermediate levels which indicate within the school where you are in your training. We use bits of colored tape on the tips of the belts to indicate to the teacher which step students are on to assist him in sorting out what to teach each of us in class. I'm testing for the second such step on the way to my 2nd dan belt, which will earn me a second gold bar embroidered on the end of the belt. My teacher has 6 of them.:) "Another day done - All targets met; all systems fully operational; all customers satisfied; all staff keen and well motivated; all pigs fed and ready to fly" - Jennie A.
