Ah, it sounds like you're a 'classical' jazz fan. I like some, but for casual listening I go for smooth jazz. People like The Rippingtons, David Sanborn, Richard Elliot, the Braxton Brothers, and so on.

This is my first post in the lounge here for what must be about 6 months! Anyway, I've been really getting into Jazz over the last few months. Mainly old instrumental based recordings. Some of my favourites would be : Bill Evans - Sunday Night at the Village Vanguard Miles Davis - Kind of Blue Miles Davis - Porgy and Bess (I've actually got the Miles Davis & Gil Evans box set, awesome collection) but for vocals, I'm liking Beady Belle - Cewbeagappic (kind of modern, but a very strong album) Jacqui Naylor - Shelter (only heard 1 or 2 tracks off this, its on order for me though) Jane Monheit - Never Never Land Louis Armstrong - Louis Armstrong plays W. C. Sutch (this is a super-audio CD, awesome, one of the best albums I own) -- Paul "Put the key of despair into the lock of apathy. There is some good Jazz out there, even I have to admit that. But the moment they start that improvisation deal I feel like inventing a Worldwide Instant Brass Smelter Device.
