Anyone know a really good alternative to RoboHelp for create the old WinHelp style help files. (It's got to be really good to justify moving our files over to it. RoboHelp is crashing right and left and refused to load some projects....) Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

Um, if RoboHelp is crashing right and left and refused to load some projects, it sounds like the alternative doesn't have to be *that* good :-) ;P I use FAR[^] and have been pretty happy with it (although I'm far from a power user).

Help & Manual is pretty good: http://www.helpandmanual.com/ ----------------------------------------------- Automate your software builds with Visual Build Kinook Software, Inc.

I'm (unfortunately) using RoboHelp as well... I've discovered that when the new version can't load one of my old projects - its usually because it is placed in a too deep hierarchy. If I move the files up under e.g. c:\temp\projectname - it works. Do you know why it's important to make fast decisions? Because you give yourself more time to correct your mistakes, when you find out that you made the wrong one. Chris Meech on deciding whether to go to his daughters graduation or a Neil Young concert

FAR is HTML help. And even though RoboHelp is crashing, we can still edit the many files by hand. Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

It may be good at HTML help, but it completely sucks at creating WinHelp files. It won't follow my settings and strips information from the file. (The problem is that WinHelp can do things HTML Help can't and they either don't know that are are so insistant on being able to create multiple targets, they won't allow it.)
