All MLKJ day has become is opression for anything government. In fact in this area schools have either not have school, or spend the entire day going on and on about MLKJ (to be honest it gets old hearing the same stuff hour after hour [yes I have had to sit through it]) my old high school got fined big time because one of the teachers just taught normal classes that day. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the day, but its gone a little far. Then again "holidays" like presidents day are pretty worthless too. All presidents day is an inconvenience to citizens and a day off for government workers. i'll be interested to know what u find funny about lynchings,segregation,terrorization of people. because that is what the white sheet represents and there is nothing funny about.:(:(:(:(:( It's a sh*tty world. No flame here, just a question. I support teaching about and honoring MLK. However, I think we need to restore a little balance. When was the last time school was closed for President's day? Our founding fathers no longer even warrant a damn holiday of their own and are lumped together as one. If you find a child that knows little more about President's day besides the fact that there is a sale on furniture with financing for six centuries same-as-cash, I would be surprised. btw, The white cape comment was very disrespectful. http://www.patriotism.org/presidents_day/[^]

MLK day is not a compulsory holiday. most businesses(including my job) do not observe it, which i don't think anyone has a problem with. i hate holidays anyways(tv schedules are too doll:) ).Not all schools are close either, only public schools which is appropriate . if i know right, public schools are closed on all federally declared holidays(MLK day is one).Besides presidents day is too abitrary a holiday...i wouldn't want to pay anyone for a day off honoring George W..:):) It's a sh*tty world.
