My current car: Subaru Imprezza WRX[^] It sticks to corners like it was on rails. The engine is a flat boxter style and so the center of gravity is super low. I know you would outpower me, but I'd be willing to race you on a windy highway any day of the week. I suspect you'd be slowing for corners that I'd be barreling through. Aside from that, your car seems very nice and it does get excellent ratings. My next car: WRX STI[^] A genuine super car by any definition for under 35K $US, you really can't beat that. Of course if your rich and the skies the limit then there are much more recognizable brands of supercars out there, but for the money, nothing beats it.

Are you really serious about putting a modified riding mower up against a vette ? I no longer own one ( too old and fat and lazy ) but I used to have one and also a had SCCA license. Used to race in a few amatuer races and the ONLY competition was from the Porches. And even then I now realize the difference was in the tires I was using. the vette was as fast and could handle just as well as any production sports car in the world under 150K. And the newer vettes ( 2000 and up ) are really superior vehicles with the computer controlled suspension and new breaking system and the new engines are a dream. I'm a huge fan of high technology cars. For example, the my WRX is a 4 cylinder 2 liter engine generating 227 hp. That's super efficiency. If you drive it sanely and don't kick in the turbo every two seconds you can drive forever on a tank of gas. But to be honest I used to be into big U.S. cars, I used to own a 69 Buick Wildcat (still my all time favorite care I ever owned), a nice old Monte Carlo etc. I would have drooled over your vette in those days, but now I'm really into European sports cars more than anything else. If I had the money I'd be driving a BMW in all likelihood, not the business man model, the super car model. To me there is really nothing being made in North America that comes close in terms of everything other than raw power. I could be wrong, but that's always been traditionally true.

Ahh..did I forget to mention I can do the same thing on a logging road and do regularly? I guess it comes down to lifestyle more than anything else. I like to be able to smoke 90% of the other cars on a twisty highway but also like to drive off-road quite often. You just can't do that with most sports cars other than the other rally racing descendants. I could have you wetting your pants in about 2 minutes on a logging road where the vette would be a pile of wreckage in 50 feet. Each his own I guess.

The funny thing was that I traded in a Toyota Sequoia SUV for my first Vette. My gas mileage improved by 30% (!) and my insurance rates went down $25 a month. Go figure, eh? Ahh..did I forget to mention I can do the same thing on a logging road and do regularly? I guess it comes down to lifestyle more than anything else. I like to be able to smoke 90% of the other cars on a twisty highway but also like to drive off-road quite often. You just can't do that with most sports cars other than the other rally racing descendants. I could have you wetting your pants in about 2 minutes on a logging road where the vette would be a pile of wreckage in 50 feet. Each his own I guess.

I don't think anybody is going to drive it, even the makers... :P Terribly delayed, terribly redefined* and when it comes out, dated. Makes vaporware look positively on time. * It was ready a month or two ago but the boss drove it and declared it rode to hard to sell for *hack spit* the American market. So he sent it back.
