But in the end, it's all just database access right? And that stuff is just plain boring.

Flirt harder, I'm a coder.

laugh at in 10 years, when time has proven that I'm an idiot: RSS is just a fad, soon to be replaced by something useful. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

RSS is kind of nice with outlook today. I can get the local weather, latest computer and financial news all with out firing up my browser. And as a bonus the company that I work for doesn't allow third part feeds like the weather bug so I get all of the bennifits without having to argue with IT. I guess, if I want to know the latest computer or financial news, I'll fire up my favorite sites in a browser. I have this philosophy that doesn't work well with RSS--if I want information, I'll go out and find it. I don't want it forced upon me, even if it's only headers and what-not. It's too distracting! Maybe I don't know how to use RSS effectively. To me, there's a difference between "facts/factoids" and real useful knowledge that I can apply somewhere besides the cocktail party. I see RSS as a cocktail party thing. Marc Latest AAL Article My blog Join my forum!

Marc Clifton wrote: I can do that just by looking out the window! Sometimes the simple things are more effective than relying on state of the art technology. I believe checking the current local weather is one of those things. :) -- Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

Actually, I disagree. But then my aggregator mainly has feeds from blogs.msdn.com[^], which is a bunch of bloggers from Microsoft. Topics vary from in-depth technical (Chris Brumme, Raymond Chen) through to API design (Steven Clarke). Some of it's about what's coming up (Whidbey and Longhorn), some about what's gone before (Raymond Chen has recently been discussing some 16-bit Windows artifacts which still impact Win32 development). Not all of it is directly useful, but I find them a lot more approachable than the Windows SDK often is.
