It said he swerved out of the road and slammed into an embankment to avoid the SUV. If he avoided the SUV, then how did the SUV people get hurt?

My guess would be, the SUV then proceeded to hit the embankment itself... or the trailer! Sadly, a good many people are complete idiots regarding driving on snow and ice. And buying an expensive vehicle doesn't change that. :sigh:
But in the end, it's all just database access right? And that stuff is just plain boring.

Do you see chipmunks or deer driving vehicles? Hell no! We humans aren't of this world. We are the murderers and rapers of the environment. We all deserve death and dismemberment. And what about the trucker. You praise the injury of people in a 1/4 ton vehicle but give a pass to the guy in the 8 ton semi. What kind of logic is that? Do you know how much smoke and oil are spewed into the air by those giant trucks. Hell, he was delivering commodities to an evil big business! He deserves to die too! The next time you spout a liberal creedo please commit to it entirely. ;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P;P

How is it good news that someone in an SUV got hurt? Is it simply because they were driving an SUV? I've seen people driving too fast on slushy conditions in just about every kind of vehicle there is.

I certainly wouldn't consider it "good news" for anyone to get hurt in a car accident. That being said, yeah, there are idiots that drive just about every type of vehicle. But it seems that SUVs often give their owners a false sense of invincibility. They figure that becuase they have a big vehicle and have 4WD, they can drive on any type of road condition at any speed. (Just like in the advertisements!!) Could also be that a lot of people driving SUV's are new to them and don't really know how to drive them. This is, of course, a generalization. Plenty of SUV owners drive safely and have common sense. "I'd be up a piece if I hadn't swallowed my bishop." Mr. Ed, playing chess

Matt Philmon wrote: If he avoided the SUV, then how did the SUV people get hurt? Any number of ways. The road was slushy. The lack of speed does not mean lack of slide.

But the article says the SUV pulled in front of him. I was assuming that meant cut him off, not swerved from the omcoming lane... if he just cut him off, and the truck driver pulled hard to the side to avoid (right if here in the US) then the SUV should have been completely safe as the wreck happened BEHIND the SUV.

Your wrong, there will be a new one out on the road before long. You don't think someone is gonna get injured in an SUV accident and buy a pop-can with wheels on it are you? Matt Newman
