We received the wonderful update to our MSDN subscription containing the "gold" version of XP. One problem, there's no product number! I call up Microsoft to retrieve it, they tell me to contact my reseller, my reseller has no clue as to what I'm talking about. Fortunately, my reseller had the kindness to fight the good fight for me and he's trying to get to the bottom of it. So here we are after paying 20 grand for some MSDN licenses and what do we have to show for it today? Jack squat. Way to treat your paying customers. Thanks for the vent, feel free to post your activation woes here, I've just become very interested in this.

Umm, they were mailed to you. About 2 weeks prior to the latest shipment, MS mailed out the product codes to everyone. Why they just didn't include in the packages, who knows. =/ Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

No, they were not mailed to us. I've verified this with everyone who comes into contact with MSDN mailings (to avoid looking like a complete fool). I confirmed with my reseller that Microsoft claims they screwed up and did omit some people's mailings and that I should see it by the end of this week.

It's Microsoft. <irony> For 20k, you'd expect to get some serious Firetrucking, no? Haven't you read that product activation is what all customers asks for? </irony> Seriously, I suggest you mail (or phone) Microsoft about this, and demand to get to someone in charge of these (apparently foolish) product decisions and tell them how you feel. One would hope that 20k would keep you from getting a "burning ring of fire"...

Speaking as a UK MSDN subscriber, my product keys came with the latest shipment along with the DVD. You can get product keys via the MSDN subscriber web-site. Log in using your subscription ID, go to the download XP page and there is a link to get a product key. Michael :-)

While I can sympathise with you, I think it's a little unreasonable to expect any company to be perfect. They do have humans doing things, and humans make mistakes. I've never seen a company yet that doesn't need a customer service department to handle complaints. -- Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

I have the same problem. We got a yellow card in our MSDN box with instruction on how to get the key. Naturally the website they point to had an ASP error which prevents us getting the key. Apparently our MCP id is an older one and not compatible with the new system, or some such shite. When I get it I will tell you how regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "The greatest thing you will ever learn is to love, and be loved in return" - Moulin Rouge "In other words, the developer is dealing with an elephant, the accountant is dealing with a bunny rabbit." by Stan Shannon - 16/10/2001
