My wife gave birth to our first child yesterday (Feb 25th) at 12:45PM after ... gulp ... 25 hours of labour! In the end, she had no choice but to opt for a caesarean. Just as well, 'cos the baby is a big 'un - 9lbs 6oz (4.25Kg). Ouch! Welcome to the world Ellie Caldecott! I am over the moon and when she was delivered, I cried like a girl. Right, gotta go - lots to do! http://www.robert.caldecott.btinternet.co.uk/photos/proud_dad.jpg http://www.robert.caldecott.btinternet.co.uk/photos/ellie1.jpg http://www.robert.caldecott.btinternet.co.uk/photos/ellie2.jpg

Born 7 days too late to share a b'day with me, but you can't have it all. Goodness - 25 HOURS ? My wife delivered our first in 3, our second in 90 minutes. Just lucky I guess. Robert Edward Caldecott wrote: I am over the moon and when she was delivered, I cried like a girl. It's an amazing thing to watch your wife give birth and especially the first time to look at a new human being of your own creation. The bad news is, your life as you knew it is over, the good news is, you will never miss it. Congratulations :0) Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

You are about to experience what is known as a "shift". Your life will never be the same again. Richard "The man that hath not music in himself and is not moved with concord of sweet sounds is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; Let no man trust him." Shakespeare

She looks really "huggable"! :) -- Dad, how strange it is that the pig can speak.
*thoughtful pause* It must have lost its "oink".

Congratulations Robert. From experience, I can tell you that your life will never be the same. It will be much better. I am about to (in about 10 weeks) become a father for the 3rd time. As the doctors have said it's going to be a girl (the first girl in my family, hence the first grand-daughter) family is very happy. After two boys, I can't help but imagine what it will be like watching this little princess grow up, go to school, get married, and have kids of her own. I know, that I will enjoy and cherish every moment of it. I hope this for you and your family. Your children are a reflection of you and your wife. Love them, because they will love you unconditionally. Best of luck in your future. Frank "Keyboard Error - Press F1 to Continue"

Oh man! You're doomed! Say goodbye to eveything you held... bah, just kidding! I have 4 kids and I love (almost) every minute of it. And, I cried like a girl after my first and second ones... after the third and fourth ones I was like "oh shit, how I'm I going to pay all the expenses for these dudes?" I almost cried then! :-)
